The bands in the "Hill" were every bit as good and in many cases better than their big city ounterparts. This was due to mainly Broken Hill's isolation. There were no live acts playing every night of the week like there were in the cities, no Disco's and no pub music scene (Pubs were for drinking in. You better believe it!). Consequently, the local bands had no one to measure themelves against except for the original artists they heard on the radio and the records they were able to purchase.
